Sleepy Henry
Everyone look at the face of innocence, he knows he’s in trouble you see. While I was in the shower I heard two bangs, so I stop mid-shower, wrap myself up in my towel and investigate. The bath panel had been pulled out, well it’s no surprise to me that Henry is in the bathroom while I shower, he usually is, but I couldn’t find him. So I tried calling his name and I heard him meow from INSIDE THE BATHROOM WALL. The idiot had climbed under the bath and into the wall. We had to use cat treats to get him out, while Charlie stood by and watched. I think to be honest Henry is jealous of Charlie’s adventure. But if he’d gone any further he could have been stuck in that wall…
I know the picture is terrible but the story is amazing. I’ve had my cat Charlie and his brother Jasper since he was 5 weeks old due to their mother being unable to care for them properly. That was in August 2006. Charlie went missing on Wednesday 4th April 2012. We put up posters, handed out leaflets and checked the local vets hoping that somebody knew where he was but with no luck. Finally we resigned ourselves to the fact that if we were going to see him again it would be because he chose to come home. Last night (Sunday 6th May 2012) I went to a birthday party and at 8:45pm I got a call from my mother who was in shock claiming she thought she’d just let Charlie in. She rushed with her boyfriend to come and pick me up and they brought me home. I got in the house to find a cat that faintly resembled my Charlie. It looked like just a cats skeleton with fur draped over it, his meows were pathetic and his face looked swollen and exhaustion was evident there. He moved slow and painfully like he was an old cat (which couldn’t be right since he’s not even 6 years old yet). But it was definitely my Charlie. He looked alien in the house after being missing for 32 days. He also looked like he hadn’t eaten in all that time too. I’ve been researching all day and the only conclusion I can come up with is that Charlie has not eaten in those 32 days, he must have been trapped somewhere with a water supply and somehow, miraculously survived until he was able to get out. The most heart-warming fact is he came straight home, and he hasn’t left my side since. Last night he gorged himself and managed to throw everything back up again but today he has paced himself and he seems to be a lot better. His fur is greasy though so unfortunately I’m going to have to bath him later. I lost hope after the 16 day, because this isn’t the first time he’s been missing. Last time he was gone for 16 days exactly and came back with a surgery scar down his stomach. He seems fine now apart from being a little weak and terribly underweight, but he won’t hold still for a photo which is why I took a rubbish one with my webcam instead. Jasper doesn’t seem to like him, probably because he smells so different but my kitten Henry (who we’ve had since January 2012) just wants to play with Charlie, and so hopefully, after building up his strength and getting cleaned up everything in the household should be back to normal…
Sorry if this post has been written terribly, I’ve been up all night with an excitable kitten, and my poorly cat and can’t really be bothered to write this up any better.
On Saturday 14th January 2012 I got a new kitten called Henry. He’s a pedigree British Shorthair Silver Tabby and was born on Saturday 5th November 2011. Which means he’ll be 6 months old in 2 days. My little baby is growing up too fast, but here’s his first blog photo. I’ll be blogging more photos of him as he grows up of course and hopefully if Charlie comes back there will be loads of him too.
This is Jasper. He’ll be 6 years old in July. Technically he is my brother’s cat but I still love him like he’s my own. Jasper is Charlie’s brother, they were taken from the same litter. We adopted them when they were 6 weeks old from the local cat lady and they’ve been together ever since. Apart from now while Charlie is missing.
My beautiful cat Charlie went missing 4 weeks ago today (28 days ago) this is the longest he’s ever been missing since he’s only ever been gone 16 days before when he was only 2 years old. Charlie will be 6 years old this July and he is missed dearly by everyone in the house. I’m praying for him, I hope he makes it home in one piece.
